Vila Nova de Gaia Fire Brigade (1839-2022)
This research project aimed to outline the history of the Vila Nova de Gaia Fire Brigade, tracing its origins from the establishment of the Fire Company as a symbol of Vila Nova de Gaia's identity as a newly created municipality, to its current role in the community it serves.
Throughout the project, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the key aspects of the brigade's history, including its internal structure, regulations, command structure, human resources, facilities, equipment, and field operations. This analysis was contextualized within the historical background that shaped its competencies and technical evolution, directly influencing its organization and operational methods. The study was completed in 2021 and published by the Municipal Council of Gaia in 2023.
