Portuguese Political and Business Elites
This research project aims to complete a digital database identifying Portuguese political and economic elites at both central and local levels, from the early days of Constitutionalism (1820) to the present.
On the platform created for this purpose (https://www.cepese.pt/portal/portal/pt/bases-de-dados/elites/main), more than 5,000 individual records have already been entered, including records of Prime Ministers, ministers and secretaries of state, Presidents of the Portuguese Parliament, members of various parliamentary chambers, civil governors, and mayors, as well as businesspeople and entrepreneurs from Northern Portugal. The database continues to be updated, with work ongoing by the project’s research team members.
