AZULEJAR – Conservation of Tiles on Façades

The existence of a national tradition regarding the usage of tiles for the finishing of façades is present in the number of building that use this material. This project aims at characterising façade elements in several buildings in need of conservation actions, involving their historical context, taking into consideration the production methods, their composition and the factors for the degradation of tiles. This Project, led by the University of Aveiro and in which CEPESE takes part as a partner, aims at characterizing the conservation action already put into practice, verifying its impact, both on tile and on the building itself.
