Inventory of the Cultural Heritage of Real Companhia Velha

Project aiming at inventorying the rich documentary, material, iconographic and cartographic heritage of Real Companhia Velha.

Within the scope of the policy for the preservation and value of the historical-cultural heritage of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia and in particular the heritage concerning Port Wine Companies and Cellars, the City Council of Gaia submitted, in 2003, to CCDRN, within the scope of ON (Operation North – Operational Program for Northern Portugal), a project aiming at inventorying the rich documentary, material, iconographic and cartographic heritage of Real Companhia Velha, taking into consideration that the historical heritage of Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro, between 1756-1960, had already been inventoried and catalogued by a team of CEPESE, which originated a work entitled "O Arquivo da Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro (Real Companhia Velha)" (Archive of the Royal Oporto Wine Company).

Carried out between 2004-2005, the Project originated the publishing of its inventory, two other books and a CD-ROM.
