The Civil Governors of the District of Bragança (1835-2011) - book release

On February, 20th, 2024, as part of the celebrations of the 560th anniversary of the city of Bragança Cidade, at 6 pm, in Bragança's Municipal Theatre, the book "Os Governadores Civis do Distrito de Bragança", 1835-2011 (The Civil Governors of Bragança District), by Fernando de Sousa, Ricardo Rocha, Diogo Ferreira and Bruno Rodrigues (CEPESE researchers) will be officially presented.

"População e Sociedade" no. 40

A new issue of CEPESEs journal has just been released. In its 40th issue, "Population and Society" includes a thematic dossier dedicated to the theme “Portugal-Galicia Relations. Regional Perspectives on Transformation”, coordinated by Celso Cancela Outeda, Judite Gonçalves de Freitas and Diogo Ferreira.

XI Electoral Justice Forum

On December 15th, 2023, the Sergipe Regional Electoral Court (TRE-SE) will promote the XI Electoral Justice Forum, an initiative that will be attended by the coordinator of CEPESE's Research Unit, Cláudia Ramos, and CEPESE's researcher Marcelo Gerard.

Public Presentation of the book "Alfândega do Porto, 1869-2019"

On November 15th, as part of the International Forum of the Alfândega – "Tourism, the Leading Global Industry: Congress and Culture as Essential Factors," the launch session of the book "Alfândega do Porto, 1869-2019" took place. This publication commemorates the 150th anniversary of the institution and was developed by a team of researchers from CEPESE.

Publication of the book ‘The Prime Ministers of Portugal (1820-2020)’

The importance of the Head of Government as a key political actor in the history of contemporary Portugal and, at the same time, an object of that history, is unquestionable. In an attempt to deal with this subject in a rigorous manner and with the necessary depth, CEPESE, with the high patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, has produced the work ‘The Prime Ministers of Portugal (1820-2020)’.

Presentation of the book ‘The Houses of Brazilians in the Municipality of Paredes’

The houses built by Brazilians have long been part of the imagination and landscape of northern Portugal, and are the subject of countless questions. Who were the men and women who ordered their construction? What features should be emphasised about these houses? Why were they built next to the main avenues? It was against this backdrop that the work ‘As Casas de Brasileiros no Concelho de Paredes’ (The Houses of Brazilians in the Municipality of Paredes), by our researcher Alda Neto, was prepared, with a view to enhancing the value and knowledge of this Portuguese architectural heritage from the 19th and 20th centuries.
